The Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an innovative biomedical research center created under the initiative of the Department of Universities, Research and Information Society de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Spain. With the participation of the Catalan Government through the Department of Innovation and Business University, the Department of Health, the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and the Ministry of Science and Innovation, this center promotes research into biomedicine and specifically in the fields of genomics and proteomics.
In their laboratories it is very important to control temperature and humidity for research studies undertaken in the right environmental conditions and ensuring the results are as accurate as possible.
This is achieved with the help of Munters in one of its experimental rooms, where fly larvae is used for research. These larvae are very sensitive organisms that can be affected in their growth by high levels of relative humidity.
With the installation of a Munters M11L desiccant dehumidifier they are able to reach the desired moisture levels to ensure the fly larvae are not adversely affected in their growth, and the formation and growth of fungi in the room is avoided. The investment was carried out by the PRBB (Biomedical Research Park of Barcelona).
The M11L desiccant dehumidifier is a new generation of desiccant dehumidifier characterized by its large volume, low weight and excellent ergonomics. Of note is the function of automatically controlling the humidity level and the double tray at the bottom which helps to minimize the risk of leaks. Connecting to a Munters RH15 hygrostat the unit provides optimal climate control with minimal power consumption.
