Mitsui Sumitomo and Munters to provide innovative commercial property services

Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (London Management) Ltd (MSILM), one of the world’s largest general insurers, has announced that it will be extending its range of commercial insurance and risk management products to include innovative building assessment services.

The building assessment services will be undertaken by Munters, a leader in global commercial property reassurance, and have been designed to protect MSILM’s client properties from potential costly damage.  By employing the use of preventative measures to negate ‘hidden’ risks associated with commercial properties the insurers will also secure their clients against loss of business continuity should an incident occur.

Commercial properties, face significant fire and water damage risk, which can now be detected using a range of industry leading technologies.  “There is therefore a strong rationale for insurers to insist on robust property inspections to identify such risks prior to policy inception or renewal.  In addition, by encouraging clients to incorporate inspections into their annual maintenance and business continuity management programmes, insurers are seen to be supporting and protecting their clients’ businesses,” says Aidan Rogerson, Head of Sales and Marketing at Munters.

Using the latest non-destructive testing technology including infrared thermography, Munters technicians will undertake water and electrical fire risk assessments.  The surveys will include the investigation of leaks in roofs, pipes, waste, electrical circuits and the building envelope, identifying their precise location with minimal cost and disruption to a business.

James Wooldridge of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance adds “At MSILM, innovation comes from a proactive and imaginative underwriting strategy, which places emphasis on reducing risk and minimising losses and Munters building assessment services complement this policy.  By extending our portfolio of insurance and risk management products we are not only meeting our commitment to protecting our clients major assets, we are reassuring businesses continuity and protecting their premiums.”
